Public Wi‑Fi: how a VPN protects you
Hotel, airport and café Wi‑Fi is shared with strangers, and you don’t know who runs it. A VPN encrypts everything between your device and our server, so the network sees only that you’re connected.
Try it free for 7 daysWhat the risks are
- Fake hotspots — a network named like the hotel’s, set up by someone else.
- Snooping on the network — the owner or other users can see which sites you visit.
- Injected pages — some networks insert ads or login pages into your traffic.
What a VPN changes
With the VPN on, the Wi‑Fi network sees one encrypted connection to our server — not the sites you open. We don’t keep connection logs either.
Before your trip
- Set up the VPN at home: open @myartvpn_bot, choose your device and connect in one tap.
- Check that it works — “📡 Check connection” in the bot.
- On the road, turn the VPN on before you log in to anything.
Questions
Is HTTPS not enough?
HTTPS protects the page content, but the network still sees which sites you visit. A VPN hides that too.
Will the VPN drain my battery?
Slightly — modern protocols are light. You won’t notice it in normal use.
